Presentations
Discussing the technology of a computer peripheral device
due: Wednesday, May 7 & 9 (last day of class)
Assignment
Choose a computer peripheral device and prepare a 10-minute talk, including handouts, on the technology behind it.
Details
- Clear your choice of peripheral technology with me before proceeding. Ideally, every group will discuss a different technology.
- You are to work in the following teams.
- Steve & Greg
- Adam & Gill
- Mia & Andrew
- Bill & Sarah
- Christine & Chris
- John & Brian
- Conor
- Team members can divide the work any way they want except that everyone must spend a little time giving part of the presentation (it need not be divided equally among team members).
- Plan on presentations of about 10 minutes, including time for questions.
- Teams are responsible for writing up a handout and giving copies of the handout to the audience.
- Teams are responsible for knowing their material in more depth than needed for the presentation so that they can (appear knowledgeable when they) answer questions from the audience, including me.
- To help you prepare your talk, I am making available a nice set of guidelines for making technical presentations.
- If you would like me to take a look at an outline of your talk or a draft of your handout, I'm hapy to do so. You are also encouraged to show your materials to others and give a test run in front of others.
- You will be graded on all aspects of your presentation, including content, clarity, organization, etc. Your handout must be neat and have no grammatical errors.
Extra Credit
- If you give a particularly impressive presentation, I may give you more than 100% on this project.
What to hand in
There is nothing to hand in, unless you use PowerPoint slides or similar electronic materials, in which case I'd like an electronic copy.
