--------------------- Notes for Using NSCC --------------------- --------------------- Logging On --------------------- 1) Log onto the head node, with X-forwarding ssh -Y nscc.colby.edu 2) Start XEmacs and tell it to run in the background (that's what the "&" is for) xemacs & 3) Log onto one of the compute nodes (n3, n4, n5, or n6) ssh n3 4) Go to the appropriate directory and do all of your compiling and running there. --------------------- Getting Files ---------------------- To download files directly to NSCC, use cURL. On NSCC, go to the directory where you want to place the file. Then issue the command curl -O http://cs.colby.edu/courses/S11/cs336/online_materials/CodeFrom_02_02_2011/hello.c for a file named hello.c. The -O (upper case oh) flag indicates the file will have the same name on NSCC as it does on the web server. --------------------- Turning in Projects ---------------------- To turn in your projects, copy files into your turnin directory. This directory is special, in that Stephanie can also read and write files in it. Be sure to keep this organized. Make a directory for each project, and put all of the necessary files into that directory (but NO CRUFT!) :)
